For 2025, Red Bull Romaniacs officially parts ways with the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship. Alongside Erzbergrodeo, it now stands as an independent event, awarding its own Extreme Enduro Rally World Champion.
The decision—driven by the need to maintain the event’s original spirit and autonomy—was announced jointly by organizers Martin Freinademetz and Karl Katoch. Their aim: to avoid compromises, retain extreme difficulty, and keep the focus on the rider experience rather than external mandates.
Same Format, More Freedom
-
July 22: Urban Prologue through Sibiu’s streets
-
July 23–26: Four Offroad Days in classic rallye format
The overall structure stays the same, but with greater creative freedom, expect more technical surprises, improved navigation challenges, and bigger altitude changes.
Who’s Lining Up?
The final start list hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re expecting returns from:
-
Manuel Lettenbichler – the reigning FIM champ
-
Trystan Hart – hungry for redemption after past near misses
-
Teodor Kabakchiev, Mario Roman, and possibly Graham Jarvis, still unstoppable at 50+
Don’t be surprised to see privateers and up-and-coming talent making a splash too — Romaniacs remains the ultimate proving ground.

What Makes 2025 Different?
-
Not part of FIM: Romaniacs and Erzbergrodeo are no longer aligned with the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship. Instead, they now recognize their own independent champions.
-
Extreme Enduro Identity: By separating from the FIM, the event maintains its raw, adventurous format—free from the limitations of external rules or TV-focused restructuring.
-
Stronger than Ever: Despite the shift, the challenge remains the same—or even tougher. Organizers promise more elevation, tighter navigation, and technical surprises.
Romaniacs 2025 isn’t just another edition — it’s a statement of independence. Same terrain, same pain, but a new identity. Whether this will inspire more events to step outside FIM or create a parallel championship scene… time will tell.
