Last week, the FIM surprised the off-road world by announcing that the Hard Enduro World Championship—originally cancelled—will now continue in 2025 with a new promoter. However, two of the most important events in Extreme Enduro have made their own decision.

Martin Freinademetz (Red Bull Romaniacs) and Karl Katoch (Red Bull Erzbergrodeo) just released a joint statement:
“In 2025, Red Bull Romaniacs and Red Bull Erzbergrodeo will not be part of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship calendar. Instead, we will continue to award our own world championship titles.”
So what does that mean?
The winner of Red Bull Romaniacs 2025 will be named Extreme Enduro Rallye World Champion.
The winner of Red Bull Erzbergrodeo 2025 will be titled Extreme Enduro World Champion.
The organizers explained that there are still too many questions and not enough clarity from the new FIM promoter. They believe a world championship should help grow and support the sport in a sustainable way—for both events and riders.
“We want to see real support for the future of Extreme Enduro and for all athletes trying to reach the top,” said Freinademetz and Katoch.
They ended their message with respect and hope:
“We’ll keep following the FIM championship and wish them the best. But we will stay focused on our own events, our champions, and our mission to grow the sport.”
