Roof of Africa 2025: Season Finale in the Mountains of Lesotho

“Mother of Hard Enduro” is back from 19–22 November, and this year the Roof of Africa is more than just a race — it’s the final round of the 2025 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship.
Lesotho once again becomes the world’s playground as riders from 15 countries and hundreds of amateurs roll into the Maloti Mountains for the 56th edition of this iconic event.

A Big Year for the Roof and a Bigger Stage for Lesotho

What sets the Roof apart is its open-door spirit: no qualifiers, no complications. If you dare, you ride. This year nearly 400 riders are expected, including 20 of the world’s best hard enduro athletes and 13 Basotho riders ready to defend their home mountains.

The event also plays a huge role in showcasing Lesotho to the world. The government, national brands, and major partners have stepped in as sponsors — including PTG, Isuzu Lesotho, FNB, Motul, Avani, LNDC, Bitter Motorbikes, and many more. Even Prime Minister Samuel Matekane will be on the start list, competing in a convoy of 10 cars. That’s how big this race is for the country.

Championship Storylines

The 2025 World Champion is already decided after Mani Lettenbichler secured his fifth title at Getzenrodeo. But the fight for the remaining podium spots is still wide open:

  • Billy Bolt vs. Mitch Brightmore → only 2 points between them

  • Mario Roman → still mathematically in the game

  • Wade Young → chasing a record 10th Roof victory at home

And the Gold Class entry list is stacked: Lettenbichler, Bolt, Young, Roman, Brightmore, Kabakchiev, Gómez… The only missing name this year is Graham Jarvis.

Event Schedule

The Roof follows its classic three-day structure around Maseru and the famous Music Box race village:

19 November – Registration
At Avani Lesotho Hotel & Casino.

20 November – City Parade + Time Trials
A parade through downtown Maseru sets the vibe.
Silver, Bronze, and Iron Time Trials start outside the city, while Gold Class Time Trials run later around Music Box.

21 November – Race Day 1
Start and finish at Music Box with two service points on route.

22 November – Race Day 2 & Podium
The final push. One DSP at Music Box, followed by the awards ceremony for all classes.

Routes, Spectators & On-Site Support

After some issues in 2024, organizers say the 2025 routes have been completely reworked.
Route Director Graham Maclachlan, with over 30 Roofs of Africa under his belt, says they’ve tested every kilometre with backup plans for both dry and wet conditions.

Support for riders and fans will be huge this year:

  • Motul – bike wash

  • Plews Tyres – tyre-changing station + King of the Mountain jerseys

  • 413 – emergency repairs

  • Lizzard – parts & equipment

  • Supermoist – special edition kits + social media giveaway

  • XCO & Sox – official merchandise

  • Maluti Lager – keeping everyone hydrated

  • NPL – nutrition support at all DSPs

Everything is set for a smooth, spectator-friendly race weekend.

Enduro Channel’s Take: Closing Out the 2025 Season

The Roof of Africa always feels different  raw, wild, and a little unpredictable and finishing the season here just makes sense.
Mani may already have the crown, but the fight behind him is exactly what makes this championship fun: Bolt pushing through fitness struggles, Brightmore quietly building consistency, Roman hunting a late-season miracle, and Wade Young trying to make history at home.

For us, this race is the perfect wrap to an intense season.
Each round had its own story, its own hero, and its own surprises and the Roof is where everything comes together one last time.
We’re excited, we’re curious, and we’re ready to watch the mountains decide the final chapter.
